John has been a business owner since 1994, and has operated various businesses in states across the country, depending on where he has been stationed while serving on active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard. In 2003, John retired from the Coast Guard and turned his hobby into a retail art gallery and frame shop in Topeka. When the opportunity to return to the Coast Guard came along, he took it. Since 2004, John has been the Team Lead for Course Development and Instruction.
John has a passion for education and enjoys teaching. He is a graduate of Baker University's School of Graduate and Professional Studies (magna cum laude) with a degree in Business Administration and is continuing his education working toward an MBA.
Having studied engineering since his early days in high school, continuing into college, then into the U.S. Coast Guard, John's innovative ideas and engineering concepts are the driving force behind NEAR.
With a personal passion for leadership development and mentoring, independent business owners, senior management, and those in the education field have actively sought John's management philosophy.
